Dear Young Adults and Supporters,
September 1st marks the final day of Fr. Timothy Tarnacki in the Office for Ministry with Young Adults (OMYA). While we are very sad to see Fr. Timothy go, we are so grateful for the joy, wisdom, and dedication he has shared with us and with the young people of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. We feel truly blessed to have had the opportunity to work alongside him in ministry and to witness his generous service to the Church. Please join us in giving thanks for Fr. Timothy and praying for him as he embarks upon his next assignment as a pastor in Florida. May the Lord continue to guide and bless him in this next chapter of his priestly ministry!
The ministry of Fr. Timothy Tarncki will live on as we continue to serve with young adults throughout the Catholic Church of Philadelphia and carry out the mission of the OMYA. We look forward with hope knowing that the Holy Spirit is guiding our ministry with young adults. There are many exciting ministry initiatives on the horizon with others that the Lord has yet to reveal.
As I step into this new role as the Director of the OMYA, I am filled with joy in knowing of how the Holy Spirit is moving throughout the five counties of the Catholic Church of Philadelphia. The mission of the OMYA is to accompany young adults from various backgrounds, stages of belief, and diverse cultures to experience the love, mercy, and healing of God and to become missionary disciples for the Church. My passion for this mission has only grown over my time serving with the OMYA, as I have seen how young adult ministry is at the heart of restoration within the Church. I sincerely believe that our ministry has just begun. Christ is alive in young adults throughout Philadelphia. I believe that God has a much larger vision for revival throughout our region that He is continuing to work, and I look forward to serving with young adults to bring this to life.
As always, we are excited to share various upcoming events, retreats, formation experiences, and more young adult events from all across the Archdiocese! If some events organized by your local young adult ministry or your parish are not included in this email, please be sure to contact the Office for Ministry with Young Adults (OMYA), so that we can include them next time and promote them through our social media. If OMYA can assist you, your local parish, or your young adult group in any way, please do not hesitate to contact our office.
With prayers,
Andrea Hall, Director

JOIN THE ARCHDIOCESE OF PHILADELPHIA ON A PILGRIMAGE TO SOUTH KOREA FOR WORLD YOUTH DAY 2027!
Join the Archdiocese of Philadelphia on A Catholic Pilgrimage to South Korea for World Youth Day 2027
August 1 – 10, 2027
August 1 – 10, 2027
This 10-day pilgrimage brings young adults from the Archdiocese of Philadelphia to the heart of it all. You will experience the transformative events of World Youth Day — Stations of the Cross, Prayer Vigil, Closing Mass with Pope Leo XIV and more — alongside hundreds of thousands of young Catholics from around the world. Between events, you’ll walk the ground where Korean martyrs shed their blood, stand at the burial place of St. Andrew Kim Dae-geon, and experience the beauty of Korean culture from ancient palaces to traditional hanok villages.
In the 18th and 19th centuries, thousands of Korean Catholics were martyred for their faith during some of the most brutal persecutions in Church history. Today, South Korea is home to nearly six million Catholics, and in August 2027, it will welcome the universal Church for World Youth Day in Seoul. The Providence of God fills us with hope, and that is why we venture to World Youth Day in Seoul in August of 2027.
Every logistical detail is handled so you can focus on the pilgrimage: private motorcoach transportation, bilingual English/Korean guides, a dedicated ProRome tour manager on every bus, daily Mass at historic Korean churches, and a meal plan. Whether this is your first pilgrimage or your tenth, this is a once-in-a-generation journey you won’t want to miss.

CYACC: Environmentalism and the Church
John Williams, RLA used to live in Reading and show up to CYACC on rare occasions, after finding the group initially in 2010. Now a semi-regular from Montgomery County and a parishioner at Visitation B.V.M., he'd like to share an in-depth discussion on one of the Principles of Catholic Social Teaching: Stewardship. He doesn’t have any titles except RLA and works as a landscape architect, but has his Bachelor of Arts in Engineering from Lafayette College and a Masters in Landscape Architecture from Chatham University in Pittsburgh. The latter is where one of the early environmental movement’s proponents was an alumnus, Rachel Carson, whose book Silent Spring (1962) helped stop the government from spraying DDT in neighborhoods and partly led to the founding of the EPA. It was there where he began the research for his upcoming presentation on Environmentalism and the Church.
Please note that dinner will be served by the generosity of the IHM Sisters prior to the speaker event.
